“The overall results of this meta-analysis do not show any benefit of intensive glucose-lowering treatment on all-cause mortality or cardiovascular death. A 19% increase in all-cause mortality and a 43% increase in cardiovascular mortality cannot be ruled out.”Nutrition
These risks are generally unnecessary, as type 2 diabetes is easily reversed without medication. In short… simply swapping processed foods for whole, organic foods lower in sugar and sugar-forming carbohydrates—combined with a few minutes of regular high-intensity exercise—will quickly put you on the path to reversing diabetes. A warning about beta-blockers and scientific misconduct
Beta-blockers are drugs commonly used to treat high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. They work primarily by preventing the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and epinephrine (adrenaline) from binding to beta receptors, thereby widening blood vessels, which reduces heart rate and blood pressure . Until recently, the European Society of Cardiology recommended the use of beta-blockers in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery. Earlier this year, however, researchers calculated that this guideline, which they found to be based on “dubious and probably fraudulent research,” may have caused as many as 800,000 deaths in just five years in Europe. 11
The guidelines for beta-blockers were largely based on research conducted by a scientist who was dismissed for scientific misconduct in 2011, and who was also the chair of the committee that drafted the European treatment directive. One would think that once this came to light, immediate action would have followed. However, it took two years for the ESC to withdraw the recommendation on beta-blockers once the scandal was unraveled. It is absolutely outrageous that nearly half a million people died needlessly because of this delay.Food and drinks
